RichMakeGame Make Devlog

Alaw! welcome to RichMakeGame development log, where Rich talk about progress of new game: Car Tank!

Car Tank! is game about car which is tank, on far away planet- a new home for humans (one of many!). Things go badly for humans on new planet, but very well for robot rebellion and thinking plant monsters. So humans call in only man who can save day: Sheriff Cop, driver man of Car Tank.

Let’s see some video and pictures of new game!

Let’s look at new tasks for development of Car Tank! :

– Switch from plugin Antares Universe to UnityScript- most of Antares is replaced, now finish the switch-over and re-organise project for easier development (project getting messy)

– develop in-editor level editing tools. This means ability to edit terrain directly in editor and not rely on modelling tools (modo) for level design changes. Fast editing essential (non destructive if possible- eg, can change landscape polygon resolution at will)

– create new enemy spawn logic- able to randomly spawn certain groups of enemies but keeping to a strict difficulty curve. Levels and areas will have certain enemy types available to spawn, and code decides how to use them to create fun varied experience- not quite the same each play.

– develop level progression structure. currently thinking of some outrun-ish idea of branching routes, some hard some easy.

Stay tuned for more RichMakeGame Make Devlog!

Gosforth Winter Beer Fest notes…

so the time has come again to write up some of the awesome local ales available at the gossy winter beer fest.. I love ale festivals. The gutting thing is you’ll probably find some ale that’s fantastic and only sold in some small town miles and miles away, but just the chance to taste them all is good enough for me.. here’s my highlights ( measured by the highly scientific ‘could happily drink n pints of it in a night’ scale:

Goddards ‘Scrumdiggity’- favourite of the night for me, easy to drink yet full of flavour- 6+. only beer I had two glasses of.

Magpie ‘Drop of Gold’ – light, tasty subtle beer- ideal palette cleanser, 5-6

Purity ‘Pure Gold’ – again, light, refreshing-a good ‘in between’ ale, 4+

Downton ‘Quadhop’ – tasty, complex flavour – 3 would be enough

Grafton ‘Moon Frost’ – again, tasty- not what I’d choose to drink all night but a soild 2 pinter

Hecks ‘Blakeney Red Perry’ – pear cider, *very sweet* but quite delicious. I’m going to say 2 pints but not one after the other, it’d be too sweet. but I’d come back to it for another.

finally, theres Anarchy ‘Sublime Chaos’ – aptly named, it’s 7% and you can taste it. it’s listed as ‘breakfast stout infused with coffee’- and while it does have strong coffee notes and a powerful aftertaste, it does grow on you- I would only go for one pint of it though and that would be enough. Would recommend giving it a go though 🙂

That’s all for now! sometimes when the weather’s cold and the rain is pouring it sucks to live in England, but ale festivals are a little treat we get for putting up with all that 🙂

New Game, first pix!

here’s a couple teaser pics from the new game- not an FPS as I thought I would be doing.. I decided that resurrecting an old prototype idea I had a while back would be fun, and a great way to become fully fluent in using Unity.. stay tuned for more updates 🙂
